Jim Nolan started this great business as a slum lord Not really Nolan started in commercial estate in 1978 by putting private wealth individuals into speculative residential real estate projects creating value and disposing of the assets. In 1983 he then began his formal commercial practice with Coldwell Banker Commercial Group ( now CBRE ) in the Ft.lauderdale office as an office leasing specialist. While at CBRE he enjoyed great success and in 1989 was part of a group of CB brokers who participated in a leveraged buyout , purchasing CB from Sears and Roebuck. He is one of the original shareholders from that buyout in the state of Florida. Nolan won several awards in his tenure at CB a and land development transactions. It was then Cartwright Nolan Commercial Properties ( CNCP )was born. Their first major client was Rockport Development ( part of David Rockefellers group ) Rockport became a recognizable names in the Florida market as they owned 1200 prime acres of land and two large office building assets in Miramar Florida ( just north of Dade county) CNCP did some of the largest land deals in S.Florida , selling hundreds of acres of prime I-75 properties and were quickly known as a very strong market player. Additionall their client list included Toyota USA , General Electric ( Trafalgar development ) Ford Motor,Comerica Bank, Rose Associates, Bank of America etc. Because of their continued success they had many suitors and ending up merging with thw Galbreath Company and shortly therafter were approached again by LaSalle Partners from Chicago ( now JLL ) and are still the original shareholders in Florida as their first two executives. In 2006 Nolan formed Nolan Consulting specializing in tenant/buyer representation and asset investor. One notable transaction Nolan completed was representing Bulletline Promotional Products company who now occupy 700,000 square feet and it is one of the highest valued industrial leases in Florida.
